New Nokia smartphone running Android 7.0 shows up in benchmarks

#AndroidN #NokiaNew Nokia smartphone running Android 7.0 shows up in benchmarks : Nokia might be getting ready to unveil a brand new smartphone running on Android. This is very much in line with what the company said earlier this year. The new phone, model D1C, has now been leaked in some benchmarks.

Ever since Nokia sold its Devices division to Microsoft, people have been speculating when the Finnish giant might return to the smartphone market. Earlier this year, the company announced its plans to put out Android devices via its partnerships with HMD and Foxconn. A couple of months ago a senior Nokia executive let slip that the company was looking to launch not one, but a number of new smartphones and tablets, all powered by Google’s OS.

Now one of the upcoming devices seems to have been leaked, thanks to a benchmarking app. Its model name is D1C, though you shouldn’t get too excited. Going by the phone’s specs this is no premium device, despite Nokia being rumored to launch two high-end handsets.

The D1C is a curious mix of what look to be decent memory and camera, but low-end chips. On one hand, the device features 3GB of RAM, with 32GB of storage. Then there’s the 13-megapixel camera, coupled with another 8 MP sensor for the selfie cam.

On the other end of the spectrum the device is powered by a 1.4 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, alongside an Adreno 505. The screen also comes in at 1920 x 1080 pixels, a perfectly adequate resolution, but low by today’s flagship standards.

All in all this looks to be a mid-range device, running Android 7.0, with a 5.2-inch screen, going by previous hints. Nokia’s executives seemed poised to launch the new devices by the end of this year, and given the big upheaval going on in the Android market right now, this might prove to be a great time for the company to make a comeback.
