Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, news & update: October launch a big possibility

#Microsoft #SurfacePro5Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, news & update: October launch a big possibility : A Windows 10 event has been announced by Microsoft and it will be held in New York City on Oct. 26. Even though it is uncertain whether the company will launch any device on that day, rumours are rife that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be unveiled along with a new Surface desktop.

Previous reports had speculated a 2017 release and that’s also possible if the company wants Intel Kaby Lake processors to be included in the device. A photo posted by a developer revealed a possible 2016-2017 calendar for Microsoft. It looks like a Surface device is “coming soon” in 2016 and three devices in 2017.

As ZDNet reported in July, at least one Surface product must be unveiled this year. However, some sources claim that Microsoft may present upgrades to the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book 2 or reveal an AIO desktop.

There’s also another reason why the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may be unveiled in 2017. It is the Windows Redstone 2 update that is not expected before spring of 2017, writes PCAdvisor.

The Kaby Lake processors are reportedly being shipped to manufacturers and Microsoft may take its time to ensure that the Surface Pro 5 receives the Kaby Lake processor and the Redstone 2 update.

Microsoft is also expected to end production of Surface 3 by the end of 2016. Hence, it will make room for a new model. There are also rumours circulating about the Surface Pro 5 specs.

The Surface Pro Pen may be upgraded with a rechargeable battery that can charge wirelessly when attached to the device. The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may also be available in 2K and 4K screens. The basic model may come with a 16GB RAM capacity.

USB Type-C port is also expected. These ports will help in faster battery charging and data transfer. An updated camera and latest versions of Bluetooth and Wi-fi with MU-MIMO support are also expected. Source: ibtimes
