#Blackberry #Smartphone – BlackBerry will release one last phone with physical keyboard : John Chen, the Director of BlackBerry, has said that the company is engaged in the development of a last own smartphone with a physical keyboard. The phone will come, according to the Director, in a not too distant future. In an interview with Bloomberg, Chen said the DTEK60 is not the last Blackberry phone. There will be another one. Maybe be the last in-house- phone, but as soon as we have made a profitable segment, and we have seen opportunities for the future, we will work with some of our partners to build one, he says. He adds it will be a phone with a physical keyboard.
The words are similar to stories that went around in July. VentureBeat said then that the company would release three more handsets. The specifications of the first two sets that a website published, correspond exactly to the DTEK50 and DTEK60 that have emerged since then.
The third concept that VentureBeat showed, has a physical keyboard. According to the website, the device has a 4.5″screen with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a full-HD resolution. The SOC is a Snapdragon 625, which is accompanied by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The battery would be 3400mAh and the front and rear cameras have respectively 8 and 18-megapixel sensors.
BlackBerry announced in September that it would stop producing smartphones. The company continues with the sale of licenses of its brand so that third parties can continue to make the brand devices.
The DTEK50 and DTEK60 are examples of this new strategy. The devices are based on existing models of Alcatel. At this time, however, there is no model on the market that is similar to the concept of the phone with a keypad. This phone may be the last handset that BlackBerry designs itself.
