Rumor: Microsoft Surface Phone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835

#Microsoft #SurfacePhoneRumor: Microsoft Surface Phone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 : While Microsoft is pretty much done with the Lumia brand, it’s certainly not done with making smartphones. As reported many times before, Microsoft is planning to release a Surface Phone next year.

The latest rumors surrounding the Surface Phone come from Nokia Power User (a pretty reliable website). Reportedly, Microsoft is currently working on at least two Surface Phone prototypes, one with 4 GB of RAM, and one with 6 GB of RAM.

It’s said that both are powered by Qualcomm’s brand new and very powerful Snapdragon 835 processor – which might also be used by Samsung for its upcoming Galaxy S8 series. The 6 GB prototype can allegedly run x86 apps via Continuum, while the 4 GB model can not.

Apparently, the current Surface Phone prototypes have Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) displays of around 5.5-inches, and may come with “laptop accessories” – possibly including a Surface Pro-like keyboard cover and a stylus pen. Of course, for now, we can’t really confirm any of the details presented above.

Up to three Surface Phone models could be released in late 2017 running Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 3. Compared to Redstone 2 (which should be available for current Windows 10 phones early next year), Redstone 3 is expected to be a much larger and more important update. Source: phonearena
