Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Which of the “Big” Phones Is for You?

#GalaxyS7 #iPhone7PlusSamsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Which of the “Big” Phones Is for You? : Let’s go right ahead and say that 2016 hasn’t been kind to Samsung. The company took a hit when news broke about their Note 7 catching fire and even bursting into flames. It also didn’t help that this debacle was followed by similar news of other exploding Samsung products like the Galaxy S7 Edge.

You’d think that Apple would benefit from all this negative publicity, but they were also hit with a “device caught on fire” narrative – an iPhone 7 at that. This begs the question, are these devices still worth it at all?

Although there have been reports of explosions with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, they are not in Note 7 territory – yet. There have been a few reports of exploding iPhone 7 Plus’ but nothing along the lines of product recalls.

So the world still turns and the two biggest smartphone makers in the world are still chugging on. On that note, let’s make a comparison between their two recent releases.

Design

The S7 Edge’s predecessor, the S6 Edge, was hailed not only for its curved screen but also for packing a punch. So to exceed the expectations set for that device, the S7 Edge needed to give more – and it did. The screen is bigger, it’s more powerful and there’s a slot for a microSD card.

The improvements on the S7 Edge are in contrast to the 7 Plus. Yes, the Cupertino company did remove the headphone jack, but it still feels like the same phone but with a better camera and more power.

Display

This is one area where Samsung will always trump Apple – for now at least. Nothing can quite beat the QHD resolution of the S7 Edge as well as its Super AMOLED technology. Basically, you’ve got a very clear screen.

Processor

Both of these devices are powerful. Samsung’s was released in two processor varieties: the Snapdragon 820 for US customers while the rest of the world got the Exynos 8890 chip. Apple uses a quad-core chip with a 2.23 GHz capability.

Storage

Although Samsung’s phones come in two internal storage capacities – 32 and 64GB – it does have a microSD card slot to expand storage up to 256GB. Apple on the other hand offers the 7 Plus in the following varieties: 32, 128 and 256GB.

Camera

Both the S7 Edge and 7 Plus have improved cameras. However, some may be drawn to the dual rear snappers of Apple’s phone.

Battery

Battery life of both the S7 Edge and 7 Plus are pretty good and can last a whole day without needing a charge.

Conclusion

Both the S7 Edge and 7 Plus hover in the phablet category, but they’re both technically capable of the same things. They are both powerful devices with stunning cameras.

However, the S7 Edge does have some features that seem to make it better: expandable storage through microSD, a QHD Super AMOLED display and an IP68-rating making it completely dust and waterproof. Then again, if these features aren’t that big of a deal for you, the 7 Plus will do fine. Source: neurogadget
