New Gear Fit 2 Update Improves Tracking, Adds Features

#SmartWatch #GearFit2New Gear Fit 2 Update Improves Tracking, Adds Features : The Gear Fit 2 fitness band has been available for purchase for just under half a year now, and Samsung is making sure to update its Tizen-powered wearable in a regular manner.

The South Korean tech giant repeatedly stated that its product design philosophy entails delivering gadgets which evolve with time, which is why it isn’t surprising that the latest update for the Gear Fit 2 packs some rather significant features which should ennoble the overall experience of using the device.

The first big addition to the Gear Fit 2 is the Auto Pause Exercise function. As the name suggests, this functionality enables the wearable to detect a pause in users’ physical activities and temporarily halt all fitness-tracking activities accordingly.

For example, let’s say you’ve been running for half an hour and decided to take a 20-second break to catch some breath. Up until now, you had to pause your fitness band manually, but as of today, the Gear Fit 2 will react whenever you suddenly stop exercising.

Of course, this feature also allows the wearable to automatically resume all of its fitness-tracking activities as soon as you start moving again. Furthermore, the Gear Fit 2 now boasts automated dynamic workout tracking. In other words, it’s better at recognizing different activities without being explicitly told what to track.

Previous software versions identified some basic cardiovascular activities like walking, running, and rowing, but as of today, Samsung’s fitness band can also automatically detect more complex sports including basketball, soccer, tennis, and dancing.

Once you’ve engaged in one of the supported activities for over 10 minutes, the Gear Fit 2 will record your session and label it as a “Dynamic Workout” in your fitness history log. Last but not least, Samsung’s wearable also received better support for repetition-based indoor workout activities.

For example, you can now set your repetition goal for each individual exercise and not have to worry about switching between activities once you start working out. In addition to that, the Gear Fit 2 will now also suggest appropriate breaks during repetitions to help maximize your efficiency and not overexert yourself.

Of course, the latest firmware update for Samsung’s wearable also introduces some minor bug fixes, though the South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer hasn’t elaborated on the thereof. In any case, the over-the-air (OTA) update for your Gear Fit 2 should be available for download by the end of the day, if it hasn’t arrived already. Source: androidheadlines
